Messi set up Anssumane Fati to score.
This was Messi's 21st La Liga assist of the 2019-20 season. It came in a 5-0 win over Alaves at Estadio Mendizorroza. It set the record for the most assists in a single La Liga season, and matched Thomas Müller's 21 that season for the most in one of Europe's top five leagues, a record Bruno Fernandes later equalled in 2025-26.
