Robert Kubica is one of the most remarkable and resilient drivers in modern motorsport. And before other great motorsport drivers jump into their vehicles, you may also want to try the casino games online from the 1xBet platform.
Born in Kraków, Poland, in 1984, he began racing karts as a child and quickly progressed through junior single-seater categories. His breakthrough came in 2005, when he won the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title, attracting the attention of Formula 1 teams. What may also attract your attention is 1xBet and its fantastic online casino games, which can give you a lot of fun and rewards.
In 2006, Kubica became BMW Sauber's reserve driver before making his Formula 1 debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix, replacing Jacques Villeneuve. He immediately demonstrated his potential, qualifying ninth and finishing seventh, although he was later disqualified because his car was underweight. At the Italian Grand Prix, only his third Formula 1 race, he achieved an impressive third-place finish at Monza, becoming the first Polish driver to stand on a Formula 1 podium.
A highly consistent Formula 1 driver
Kubica continued with BMW Sauber in 2007 and scored consistently. His defining Formula 1 season came in 2008. At the Canadian Grand Prix, one year after surviving a spectacular crash at the same circuit, he took his first and only Formula 1 victory. The result was also BMW Sauber's sole Formula 1 win. Kubica finished the 2008 championship fourth overall, establishing himself as one of the sport's leading drivers.
His promising career was dramatically interrupted in February 2011 when he suffered severe injuries in a rally accident in Andorra. The crash caused extensive damage to his right arm and hand and forced him to miss the entire Formula 1 season. Remarkably, Kubica returned to competitive motorsport through rallying, eventually winning the 2013 WRC-2 championship.
After years of rehabilitation, Kubica made an extraordinary return to the Formula 1 grid with Williams in 2019. Although the team struggled for performance, he scored a point at the German Grand Prix. He left Williams after that season and became Alfa Romeo's reserve driver in 2020, later making substitute appearances in the 2021 Dutch and Italian Grands Prix.
Kubica subsequently found major success in endurance racing. He won titles such as:
- the European Le Mans Series LMP2 title in 2021 and 2024;
- the FIA World Endurance Championship LMP2 title in 2023;
- and in 2025, driving an AF Corse Ferrari 499P with Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright.
This made him the first Polish driver to achieve this historic victory.
